Meet the Speaker

Dr. Bruno F. Santos leads Data, Digitalization, Transformation and Sustainability at KLM Engineering & Maintenance. He joined AF–KLM E&M in 2024 after a decade at TU Delft, where he was Associate Professor of Airline Operations. He served as Scientific Coordinator of the H2020 ReMAP project on condition-based aircraft maintenance and received the TRA VISIONS 2022 Senior Researcher Award Airborne. He holds a PhD in Transportation Systems Planning from the University of Coimbra. His work bridges operations research, data science, and MRO practice — pairing academic rigour with operational realism on the shop floor.

About this Talk

In aircraft and engine maintenance, the shift isn't just about predicting failures — it's about making better decisions. Bruno will show how KLM E&M is applying augmented intelligence to planning, resource allocation, and administrative efficiency on the shop floor. From Phaser (data-driven phase-out scenario analysis) to generative AI automating administrative tasks, these cases show OR and AI as a co-pilot — augmenting engineers, not replacing them.
